Dear Journal,
Today is my first day in the army. Things aren't going to good, i see people dying left and right and every time i turn around. I hear them all talking, saying that i will probably will be the next to die, since I'm the only African American here. But they found a loophole for me and I also believe that the southerns didn’t think we would fine but we are smarter then they give us credit for. I have been through hell and back and i am just now got free from slavery. Something that no human should ever go through. I look around at the fellow soldiers and see how the army doesn't affect them at all and then i see some who have families and want to go home safe to them, to watch their kids grow older to experience life in all ways, and they want to see it. There are very few men here that are like me here, because the planters and owers of enslaved blacks were afraid that they would turn the armamnets on the planters and lead an insurrection against slavery. We were to go where no man has gone before, and of course they would sick us in front. They yelled at us to be the first in line( in case of a bombing or attack). I still hear the man yellin my name.
AAAAADDDDDAAAAAMMMMM!!!!!
